BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Ivory S. Council received BS degrees in Environmental Studies and African American Studies from Florida State University in 2012 and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science – Environmental Chemistry from Florida A & M University (FAMU) in 2020. Her areas of expertise are radiochemistry, bioremediation, heavy metal sequestration, and water resources protection. Presently, Dr. Council serves as an Assistant Professor of Earth Science at Tallahassee State College. In her spare time, she can be found crafting eco-conscious products for her Tallahassee-based company, Pure Ambiance Apothecary, LLC., gardening, running, or traveling with her 8-year-old daughter.

Scourge of the Seven Shores: Invasive Invaders Pillaging Florida's Paradise
This presentation will explore invasive species across the state of Florida. Topics will includes the sources, origins and pervasiveness of invasive species, as well as the impacts of invasives on local ecosystems and landscapes. We will also examine the role exotic animal trading plays in the spreading of invasive species and discuss ways to slow, and hopefully stop, the increase of these invaders throughout the state.
