Dr. Ivory S. Council received BS degrees in Environmental Studies and African American Studies from Florida State University in 2012 and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science – Environmental Chemistry from Florida A & M University (FAMU) in 2020. Her areas of expertise are radiochemistry, bioremediation, heavy metal sequestration, and water resources protection. Presently, Dr. Council serves as a Research Associate in the Center for Faculty ADVANCEment at FAMU, where she manages research focused on the advancement of professors in STEM and the social and behavioral sciences (SBS). She also serves as an adjunct instructor for the School of the Environment at FAMU, primarily teaching the fundamentals of environmental science to non-science majors. Dr. Council aims to address environmental and social inequalities at the local level through a combination of research, outreach, and education. She has authored four (4) peer-reviewed research articles and has presented her work at several conferences. She is a McKnight Doctoral Fellow and a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Florida Alliance for Graduate Education in the Professoriate. In her spare time, she can be found crafting eco-conscious products for her Tallahassee-based company, Pure Ambiance Apothecary, LLC., gardening, or traveling with her 7-year-old daughter.
